In 2005 Pia went to New York with her father. Pia had inherited a few cameras from her father’s architecture practice which were no longer used due to new technologies being incorporated into Architecture.

Pia took a Pentax and polaroid camera on this trip. Unbeknownst to her, the camera wasn’t winding the film on properly.

On her return to Australia she discovered one continuous image was captured and her ‘painting with light’ technique was discovered.
